The Diploma of Nursing covers the nursing skills and knowledge you require to be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled nurse, providing preparation for nursing practice that is client focused and holistic.
This course allows you the time to develop your skills and build confidence in your knowledge.
Holmesglen have industry current nursing staff who will support you through the course. You will learn through a combination of on-campus theory, simulation activities in the nursing environment and supported clinical placements in a variety of clinical settings.
The range of clinical placements reflects the diverse opportunities for employment for enrolled nurses in the health workforce, which may include aged care, rehabilitation, sub-acute and acute settings.
Holmesglen will register all students with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Course structure
Classes are scheduled Monday to Friday with one non-attendance day each week, which can change each semester.
Classes can be scheduled in the hours between 8am and 8pm
Students can expect to be on campus on average 12-15 hours per week. Semester breaks will be scheduled into the timetable.
This course includes clinical placement, which may be arranged for you during the semester or during semester breaks. All students must be available during these periods.

Entry requirements
Diploma of Nursing English Language Requirements.

Other entry requirements
- Satisfactory completion of Year 12/High school or the overseas equivalent, with passes in all subjects including Mathematics.
- Students must be 18 or older at the time of course commencement.
- Prior to undertaking clinical placement, students must complete a National Police Records Check, a Police Records Check from their overseas country of residence (English translation), a Working with Children Check in Australia, and be prepared to declare their health and immunisation status.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
You may be able to shorten the length of your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
Outcomes
QUALIFICATION AND RECOGNITION
After completing this course, you will receive the HLT54115 Diploma of Nursing, which will allow for registration as an Enrolled nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (entry level criteria applies).

Pathways for International students
On satisfactory completion of the Diploma of Nursing, you will be eligible to enter into the Bachelor of Nursing with 1 year’s advanced standing, subject to meeting the following requirements:
• Achieving a minimum ‘Credit’ grade average for the Diploma of Nursing
• Attending a Transition Program prior to commencement of the second year of the Bachelor of Nursing. The Transition Program fee will be AUD $1,200.
